The standard HID's in the 86 GTS are still fairly yellow, so I wanted to go to the 6000k bulbs.

Here is the final effect of this upgrade:

I chose proper Philips Quartz glass D4S bulbs, as cheaper glass does not have the UV shielding properties of the more expensive ones. Be careful if you get cheaper ones, as you may end up yellowing your lenses.

FIRST ENSURE YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF!! Best leave them off for a while to ensure they are cool also!

Locate the twist lock behind the bulb.

Twist to unlock and remove the cover.

Locate the HID connector, twist it and pull lightly to remove it from the bulb.

Locate the locking tabs holding the bulb in, squeeze them and fold down the locking tab so it is no longer obstructing the bulb. Simply pull the bulb out, being careful not to touch the glass bulb against the housing.

Reverse the process, insert the new bulb.

Fold the locking tabs back into place.

Push the HID connector back on and twist to lock.

That's correct. Stock wiring, just a bulb swap :)

Price is $66.

hey i was wandering if you could give me a hand. i've tried twisting the HID connector, but it wont budge, its really stiff, how did you manage to remove it?
I'm having the same problem. Haven't put a lot of force into it yet, but on an initial try it wouldn't budge...

Very good, easily understood guide. Took no time at all. Was a tight fit on drivers side due to fuse box. Thanks for making the job so easy. :D

I've just done this to my car.

I'm kind of worried though, when I turn on the lights with the new HID's they buzz like crazy!

Whats going on here?

I just did mine and noticed the same thing when I switched on the lights (not engine). When the engine is on it drowns out the sound. Tried to record it on my phone but couldn't get it.

How have yours been running?

They seem to buzz as long as they are on, but they do get quiet as they heat up after a minute or so.

I have had them in since I posted that on March 28 and haven't had a problem. A look around the internet seems to say that it is actually normal. Just something to do with the wiring harness. If it really bothers you, you could get a new harness, I saw no need as I haven't had a problem.

Finally got around to installing mine.

Had the same problems with removing the HID connecter, just had to give it a more solid push counter-clockwise and it came off.

I noticed the old bulbs also buzzed before I replaced them.

Just installed mine, super quick delivery!

However I have an odd blue tinge to the lights, with a distinct blue "line" of light coming from the right bulb. I also noticed that the edge of the light isn't straight anymore, nothing like WTFs car! Is anybody else having this problem?

Installation was fine, I tried taking a photo of it but my phone wasn't up to scratch, will try getting a photo up later
