Valenti Reversing Light - V as position light mod

Recommended Posts

This mod is for those wishing to change the wiring of the Valenti Reverse Light so the V is seperated from the fog light triangle and to have it light up with the tail position lights or manually via a switch.

You will have to remove some of your boot lining to access the plug that the reversing light plugs into.

As before, plug the unit into the plug and test it from the driver's seat.

Test the reversing lights also.

Now all that's left to do is hook that Special Red wire up to a power source. This can be one of 3 or more ways.

1. Tapping into the position light power in the tail light.

2. Installing a switch in the dash or elsewhere and connecting that to an always on when the car is on source such as a 12v socket, straight to the battery or hard wired in to the fuse box.
3. Wiring into an always on power source such as #2

That's it for the time being.  The connection of the red wire (V light) should be finalised shortly. Stay tuned.

Yes, i would say that you have to cut the orange and black at the solder point that says 'stop'', cut the green at the solder point 'TA' and join them all together.

Do you know what happens to the V light currently? Does it light up with the fog light?

I can confirm that this works. I had the same wiring as Rayy and did the above. Hooked V up to position lights, fog light up to brakes.

Fog light should not be hooked up to brakes.....

I'm just using the fog light as a third brake light. Is this illegal?

Yes, it is illegal.  Fog lights are only meant to be used in fog because they are designed to be visible through that fog and so they are too bright in normal conditions.

I have a different circuit board -- which wires would I need to cut/splice?

Cut the orange and black at the solder point that says 'stop'', cut the green at the solder point 'TA' and join them all together.

Hello there,

I live in France and got the Valenti reverse light one year ago. I used some tutorial on youtube to have it function so the -V- stays on with the running lights, and the triangle acting as a brake light but not blinking.
It works really well but I have to change it, because here is france, the fog light is something mandatory for something we call "The Technical Control" (I know it's called MOT in the UK, same thing)

I think this guide could help me however all the pictures are gone :( Can someone help me ?

Also, once wired accordingly, can someone confirm the triangle is bright as a fog light ? I mean, it's brighter than it is when it's acting as a brake light, right ?

Thank you a lot guys.

Sorry, I hadn’t realised photobucket was doing that now. I’ll have to find an alternative way of getting the images back in the original post.

Triangle is the fog light. It won’t get any brighter.
