  1. the keyless entry on my 2013 GTS 86 always opens the passenger door lock but the drivers door lock only opens one in every six or seven attempts. Doesn't matter if you put your hand on the handle sensor on either side, use the keypad on the remote, the driver door won't open or lock every time, which is a pain if you're parking at nighttime, get out of the car, try locking it but can't see the little interior switch easily, meaning you think it might be locked but on checking you find it either wasn't locked, or was but checking unlocks it again and so on ..... Only way to resolve it confidently is to manually close the interior lock then hold the door handles out whilst shutting the doors. Spoke to the dealer I bought it from, reckoned they'd never heard of it, but said it'll probably need a whole new door handle unit costing well in excess of $500 plus labour. Anybody else had this problem?

  3. Just had mine done at Fergusons Hurstville. Total cost $1838.64 including parts $1049 consumables(?) $95 Environment levy $9 and workshop supplies(?) $8. Checked independent online suppliers against parts numbers on invoice and every part was double to triple charged. Realise toyota has to make a profit but coupled with labour costs it would be cheaper to get a lung transplant
  4. I have a 2013 86GTS and several times over past three years when starting up the car the screen is blacked out and asking for the security code. Resets ok when code entered. Mentioned this when serviced but was told system was checked and no fault found. More a nuisance than anything, especially the first time when I didn't have the code at hand and was a couple of days drive away from home with no radio, navigation or hands free phone. Anyone else had this problem and had it rectified?
  5. thanks for feedback, got the camera installed by carbon cars for just over $300 very happy with it.
  6. thanks have booked in to carbon car audio
  7. I have a 2013 86 gts and wanted to have a reversing camera fitted. Contacted local toyota dealers at sutherland and hurstville in sydney but apparently they can't supply a genuine camera as fitted to the latest models, but might be able to fit an after market model. Anyone done this and have suggestions of best fit for the car?

    Rattle

check out subaru (usa I think) official service bulletin 12-140-12 date 11/12/12 re 'clack' or 'popping' sound from trunk and or rear shelf of brz. They call this a 'TSB', its a five page fix with photos and costings for dealers to fix what appears to be a problem over there as well. It also details how a countermeasure in production was incorporated starting from VIN D*602788, so it should be a well recognised fault. I've printed one out and am going to fax it to Fergusons Toyota in Sydney before I take my 86 in for its first service in a couple of months. Will put up with the odd click and clack until then. I rang their service manager who reckoned he had never heard of the problem so hopefully by faxing this to them beforehand I'll avoid multiple trips and dicking around to get rid of the problem.

    fresh air

if i turn my air con off in my gts and set it for fresh air after a while (usually because the air becomes stale) i notice that the system has defaulted itself to recirculating air. turn recirculating off again get the right amount of fresh outside air flow again & its fine initially but then back it goes into the same recirculating/stale air sequence. according to my dealer service i should just run the air con all the time .... other than opening a window anybody know how to get a fresh outside air flow without the air con running?
