Hi Guys,

I was looking at moving out of my 2014 GTS Auto to the BRZ STI 2018 Manual.

There is something I don't get, They upgraded the wheels/Tyres in the BRZ STI to 215/40 R18

the Standard Models (86 GTS and BRZ) are using 215/45 R17

the is no difference in tyre width so I don't see any benefit in the larger rims

Am I Missing something.

I can't find any info on Ride Height, is the BRZ with sach suspension lowered at all?

Cheers,

Mark

The difference is in the aspect ratio or profile of the tyre, the newer car you mentioned has lower profile giving increased directional stability/accuracy, would feel crisper & more immediate to driver steering input = better steering performance.

You would think that if you were going to go from 17 to 18 you would increase tyre width.

Does anyone know if the STI version is lowered at all

The BR86 really doesn't need a wider tyre, grippier yes depending on circumstance.

The STI might have STI springs which is approx 15mm lower making the stock tyre stick even more.
